Document tools with privacy built in
BookForge is a static web application for EPUB and PDF files. Selected documents are processed by code in your browser and are not sent to a BookForge server for conversion.
The project combines everyday PDF tasks with features for digital and home-printed books: EPUB to PDF, PDF to EPUB, booklet imposition, metadata editing and PDF merging or splitting.
How BookForge works
When you open a file, only your browser receives access to the selected data. Depending on the tool, BookForge reads EPUB structures, copies PDF pages or reconstructs content. The result is downloaded as a new file and the original is not modified.
Clear about limitations
PDF-to-EPUB is a heuristic reconstruction and does not include OCR. Complex EPUB layouts may be simplified in vector PDFs. DRM-protected or damaged files are not supported. These limitations are explained directly beside the relevant tool.
